In 2024, Bypass sent out a call for light, an invitation to friends and those in our community of recent architectural graduates to come together with the shared purpose of making light. During a series of gatherings over the next year, we met to discuss, catch up and develop our lights together.

Our final exhibition, held in November 2025, celebrated that year of collective dreaming and making, curated within Ron Sang’s Choice Plaza tower, itself a sort of lantern in the middle of Auckland city. Memories from the building’s past: the hopes of its developer, the tumultuous highs and lows of its first few decades and our fond recollections of dining here during university were illuminated by a constellation of new additions.
